Love of Learning

Welcome to a new Tyndale school year from your new principal! Thank you to parents, students, staff members and community members who have come up to me in the past few weeks to say hello and instantly make me feel part of the community. The way that I have been welcomed speaks volumes in favour of the loving Tyndalian community that I am blessed to have joined.

As a first-time principal, I believe that my love of learning is what has prepared me to take on the challenge of leading a school. Many of you already know that I felt a deep call by the Lord to come to Tyndale Christian School Strathalbyn. My love of learning is directed at the life and work of Jesus and the world over which He reigns. Most importantly, I believe that finding, understanding and responding to God’s hope and truth should be central to our students’ teaching and learning experiences. In this way we are best prepared to venture beyond the classrooms and play areas of our school to serve the wider world with and for Him.

When writing this article I wanted to briefly state why learning leads to service. It is because it starts and finishes with people in relationships. We are called to love one another (John 13:34) and we learn this crucial first lesson through the relationships in our families. That’s why I have included a photo of my Mum and Dad with me from the Commencement Service in Week 1. The second photo is of church friends whom I had the privilege of serving with as an elder. They blessed me through their attendance and prayers at the service last week.

So, as we commence a new year together, my prayer is that no matter what we face in 2020, we do so with a loving heart. We are loved by God and our sure hope that he will never abandon us enables us to dig deep and go out into our communities and serve others. From hearing the stories of bushfire fighting by members of the school community I already have learned that I am in a community that knows a lot about loving and serving others. I look forward to learning more from you and serving you as your Principal.

Have a blessed year!
