School Photos - Next Week!!

Master School Portraits (MSP) will be taking our school photos next Wednesday 12th February at the INFANTS Campus and Thursday 13th February at the PRIMARY Campus. Master School Portraits offer a Pre-Pay system for their photographic service. Payments can be made by cash, cheque or online.  Please make cheques payable to MSP Photography and write your child’s name and school on the reverse side of the cheque. Please note that no change will be given by the school or the photographers. Online payments can be made through their website www.msp.com.au using Credit or Debit cards from MasterCard or Visa.  The website will display an order reference code, which should be noted on the envelope in the box provided. Personalised envelopes, with the student’s name, went home last Friday to all Yr 1 - 6 students and today with all Kinder children.  Please return the envelope and payment to your child’s class teacher by Tuesday 11th February.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Family Portraits Family photos will be taken in the INFANTS HALL at 1.00pm on Wednesday 12th February for families with children at BOTH campuses.  PRIMARY parents will need to transport their children from the Primary Campus to the Infants Hall. If your children attend the Primary only, and you would like a Family Photo, they will be taken at the Primary Campus on  Thursday 13th February after the class groups. Family Photo Envelopes are available from either school office.

Special Group Photos: House Captains, School Captains, Mini Vinnies and the Primary Choir will be taken on Thursday 13th February.

School Hours & Supervision

The school grounds are supervised from 8.30am until the last bus leaves in the afternoon. No child is to be at school before 8.30am and all should leave the school grounds as soon as possible after 3.00pm.

School starts:  8.45am (first bell);

Recess:  10.50am – 11.20am

Lunch: 1.00pm – 1.30pm (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE TO TIME, now 10 minutes earlier)

School finishes: 3.00pm

Last year we became increasingly concerned that children were being dropped off and left on their own before 8.30am, unsupervised by parents before this time - often up to half an hour earlier.  The school cannot be responsible for any accident or potentially harmful incidents occurring. Please organise alternative care for your child if your child requires supervision before 8.30am.

OFFICE HOURS

Primary & Infants Office: 8.30am to 3.30pm daily when fee payments and general enquiries can be made by parents.

Student Absences

Please notify the school if your child is absent.  Due to government legislation, notification of your child's absence must be received no later than 7 days after your child's last day of absence.

You can do this in the following three ways ....

1.  Telephone our office staff between 8.30am to 3.30pm, Primary:  6765 7847 or

Infants:  6765 8569.

2.  Email our office staff (setadmin@arm.catholic.edu.au).

3.  Handwritten note to the office staff or class teacher.

If no explanation is received after 7 days, the absence is noted as “Unexplained” and cannot be changed after this time.

PLEASE NOTE after the daily class roll has been electronically marked, a text message is sent out from each School Office at 10.00am to families whose child/children are absent from school that day.

If you are ever in any doubt as to whether you have notified the school, please contact either school office and the staff are more than happy to print you a list of your child's absences and rectify.

2021 Kindergarten Enrolments - ENROL NOW

Applications for Kindergarten 2021 are NOW OPEN and close on Thursday 9th April 2020.  Please contact either school office for an enrolment pack.  Enrolment Forms will not be processed until all supporting documents are received: Birth Certificate; Immunisation Certificate; Baptismal Certificate (only required if your child is baptised Catholic) and proof of student’s residential address. Please spread the word if you know of anyone with a child wishing to start at St Edward's School in Kindergarten in 2021.

Qkr! THE EXCITING SCHOOL APP!!

We would like to remind our families that St Ed’s has Qkr! This mobile App allows fast and easy payments with the flexibility to pay your School Fees, Activity Levy, Lunch Orders, School Clothing orders and Excursion money wherever and whenever you like. Simply download the Qkr! App from the app store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Register your child’s details on the App and away you go!!  It’s so simple and saves you, your child’s teacher and admin staff so much time counting and sorting money for those various miscellaneous payments.

Internet Use & Social Media

One of the great concerns parents and schools share is the increasing use of social media by children.  Across Australia (St Edward's is no exception), schools have seen an increase in negative student behaviour as a result of messages written or photos taken using electronic technology and then posted to various social networking sites.

Students of primary school age do not have the maturity to fully understand the wide range of issues and implications that come with the use of social media.  That is why, as parents and teachers, we need to be vigilant.  The teachers are regularly discussing with the children proper and safe use of the internet.

I encourage you to talk to your child/children about the potential dangers of the internet.  Be aware of what applications your children have access to, how often they use them and what information they place on them, as well as what is posted in reply.

I encorage you to establish rules and guidelines to ensure the safety of your children.

1.  Talk (on a regular basis) with your child/children.

2.  Establish rules and guidelines.  Be consistent and unwavering.

3.  Take an interest in your child's internet activity and social media.

4.  Be vigilant.

2020 School Bus Passes

The 2020 School Bus Pass for those students who are deemed eligible by Transport for NSW for free travel will be mailed to the student’s postal address.

Most passes will be received between the 24th January and the 31st January 2020.

If the student does not receive their school bus pass by the 3rd February 2020 then please do not hesitate to contact Tamworth Buslines.

A grace period is allowed at the start of the school year to enable sufficient time for students to be issued with their school bus pass. During this time drivers will not require students to show a pass and students may still travel, however we do require passes to be shown once the school bus pass has been received.

To travel free during the grace period school students must be in school uniform or be able to provide evidence (such as a school ID or school books) they are travelling to or from school.
