Grandparents and Special Person Day

This year’s Grandparents and Special Person Day began with a reverent and heartfelt Liturgy, where the 3/4 students were able to share their portraits of their chosen loved one. The Liturgy really celebrated the contributions that Grandparents make to our community and family life and how much love and wisdom they have to offer.

It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces in the audience and it certainly brought great energy into our school and classrooms.

After the Liturgy, the students were able to showcase some of their amazing work from maths and writing, create beautiful bookmarks and have a browse through the hundreds of books from the Book Fair.

4/5 Transition Day

On Monday 28th November, the Year 4 students got together with the Year 5’s for a bonding day down at Elwood beach and cricket club.

They kicked off the events with a beach carnival and had to work in teams to complete a number of relay competitions and to create the best sand sculpture display. They were then treated to a delicious BBQ which was cooked by Chef Bern, before competing in 2 games of cricket.

All the students had a great day and were able to mingle in their 2020 year group. The students learnt a lot about each other and were given the challenge to find out new and interesting information about their allocated walking partner.

On the walk home, the students indulged in their final treat of the day and cooled off with some refreshing icypoles.

Walk to School Month

Throughout October, the students have been involved in Walk-to-School month, which I don’t believe needs any other explanation :)

It was great to see so many students consciously alter their commuting method to try and increase their physical activity levels. Some students asked their parents to park their car around the block so they could walk some of the way, and many dusted off their helmets and knee pads so they could scoot or ride to school. All in all, it has been a successful campaign and will hopefully foster more healthy habits in the future.

To reward the students, they were able to partake in the smoothie bike activity where they blended and drank their chosen smoothie flavour by riding a bike and also had a whole school pinic and icypole on the final day of the month.

With the warmer weather upon us, it would be great to continue this momentum!
