Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge:

Junior School students are making great progress. In many classes the teacher is letting us know what has been shared with all students, so every student has some verified books through this process.

Senior School enrolments are still low (although much higher than last year). This is a pity because if there is one strong indicator of academic success at the end of secondary school it is reading.

The Challenge runs for most of next term. It is not too late – nor is it too hard. These are the rules:

Prep – Year 2

Read or experience

Number of books: 30

Number of books from the challenge book list: 20 or more

Year 3 to Year 9

Number of books: 15

Number of books from the challenge book list: 10 or more

Year 10

Number of books: 15

Number of books from the challenge book list: 5 or more

Most of the books in our collection are on the lists. Why not encourage your sons and daughters to get involved?

The VIBE looms:

The VIBE Festival is on again in the last week of the term. As usual, the Library staff have some wacky plans – this year the theme will be spies! (Shh!! – top secret!)

Junior School Library:

Lots of beautiful books are now being released to be borrowed – thanks to the speedy work of Ms Welst. Two weeks ago, we calculated that there were approximately nine and a half hours’ worth of covering additional books left from our backlog. Since then we have purchased another 40 books – and most of these are for the Junior School! Our thanks go to the Marshall family for so many beautifully donated books from their personal library.

Our libraries on both sites are well stocked, but per head of students, the Junior School has an incredible ratio of 100+ books per student.
