Interact News

Students from our Interact Club attended Donations in Kind, in Footscray on the 12th Nov.  We were lucky enough to see the shipping container being packed and Jack Commanduer (Secretary) had the official job of sealing the container.  Students watched with wonder as the container was remotely moved onto the truck.  This container is destined for Timor-Leste.

Students worked alongside Interact students from Baden Powell College, folding sheets and jumpers and sorting into boxes to be sent overseas.  Even though students met each other for the first time, they chatted easily, swapping emails to keep in contact.  Our leaders had the opportunity to meet and talk with Baden Powell’s Vice President; A fantastic opportunity for fellow Interactors to converse.

Our new members, Abbi, Poppy (Yr7) and Abhinav (Yr10) as well as Hannah and Briley, who hadn’t been to DIK before, were delighted to walk through DIK to see the vast array of donated goods waiting to be shipped overseas.  Goods included Bikes, Humidicribs, Sewing machines, material, hospital equipment, stationary, books, fridges, medical items and even a CPR dummy with teeth!   Although it was a physically tiring day, sorting and processing goods, all agreed it was such a worthwhile activity and a truly memorable experience.

We’re delighted that five new members have joined the club and encourage more to come along to one of our meetings.
