Reporting

Interim reports for Term 1 were made available to families last week. As parents will be aware, Preshil supports the continuous reporting method of students’ academic achievement.

Using the Learning Tasks function in Compass, students’ results are posted online by teachers when assessment tasks are completed. This data is accompanied by written feedback detailing your child’s achievements and areas of improvement. At Preshil we inform families of student progress in the following ways:

  • Years 7-12 information evenings
  • mid-year and end-of-year reports
  • continuous reporting of academic achievement through learning tasks
  • communication of class specific information such as subject Weeblies and the fortnightly newsletter
  • teacher emails, phone calls and meetings
  • parent/teacher/student conferences twice yearly
  • visual learning in the classroom
  • individual educational plans for students requiring learning support.

(You can find more information in our Assessment Policy in the resources section of Compass.)

You are encouraged to go online to view your child's achievements since the start of term, and this will be discussed during the upcoming 3-way conferences.

Interview times are booking fast

If you weren't able to book parent/teacher/student interviews today, there is another opportunity next Thursday 21 March.

So as not to miss out on a time slot that suits you best, go online through Compass and book now the interviews you want. If you are experiencing difficulties with this online process, please email me or call the office for assistance.

Not present unexplained

Ideally, all students should arrive at school by 8.30am to give themselves enough time to be organised for an 8.50am start. Home Groups for Years 7-10 begin promptly at 8.50am.

It has been good to see most students in Home Group on time. Arrivals after 8.50am are recorded as LATE or NOT PRESENT UNEXPLAINED. If your child is going to be late or absent please enter it in advance or on the day on Compass. To do this:

  • log into your account
  • go to your child’s home page and click on the 'Add Attendance Note/Approval' link listed underneath your child’s name
  • this will take you to the Attendance screen, with a  pop-up window to enter details of the note or approval
  • you then select the applicable date range.

First open morning for 2019

Our first Open Morning for the Secondary School was held today. It was a great turn out and prospective families had the opportunity to learn about the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, as well as Years 7 and 11 scholarships available for 2020 and the enrolment process in general. Classrooms were open during the morning with visitors invited to meet staff and join our students in a variety of classes across the campus.

If you have family or friends who would be interested in a Preshil education for their child please invite them to book on a tour online via the website, phone 9817 6135 or email registrar@preshil.vic.edu.au and we will proudly show them all we can offer.

Bake sale at the family welcome picnic

The new committee of classroom parent representatives has decided to support two of our enterprising Year 11 students, Rosie and Lily, in their endeavours to raise funds for breast cancer research. They will be holding a bake sale at the family welcome picnic THIS FRIDAY and would be pleased to receive donations of cupcakes, muffins or biscuits (that can be served on a serviette).

If you would like to participate, you can send a message to lauralopezleon@hotmail.com to coordinate the efforts! On the day you will need to supply a list of ingredients along with your name and mobile number.
