Run for the Kids

Inspirational Charity Event for Wantirna College

A sea of feet swarmed over the Bolte Bridge as over 22,000 Victorians including members from the Wantirna College Community raised $1.5 million for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal at the Herald Sun/ Transurban Run for the Kids on Sunday, April 7.

The Herald Sun ‘Run For the kids’ is a community event and its primary purpose is to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. After an impressive debut in 2006, the Herald Sun /City Link Run for the Kids has grown to one of Victoria’s largest mass participation Events,

Members from the Wantirna College Running Group proudly participated in the group category of this spectacular event.  Our 2019 Thursday Morning running group led by Our Head of Sports Mr. Nathan Rogers, supported by our Assistant Principal Ms. Catherine Ford and teaching staff including Ms.  Debbie Mantzanidis and Mr. Rasheed Sadeen has provided motivation and inspiration to students within the College.  A major focus of this group has been to improve fitness, but more importantly to recognize the value of giving back to the community via a number of charities.

Our students learn to develop an understanding of the importance of fitness and a healthy lifestyle. At the end of the running session, a healthy breakfast is provided for the group, in order to start their school day.

We acknowledge The Good Friday Appeal and thank the following students and their families for their active participation.

We look forward to our next charity event Run Melbourne and invite families and friends from our wider college community to support us.
