From the Principal's Desk

Firstly we would like to thank everybody who volunteered their time to help with the MGPS Christmas Party.  This was a great initiative that helped raise money to go towards our fabulous school.  The work the P&C do for our school is tireless and we look forward to hearing new members have joined to lighten the load next year.  This year the Christmas Party raised over $1100.

Congratulations to Jake Simpson on his selection in the North West cricket team.  Jake had to go through three different trials to make the final selection in the North West team to play in Ballina early next year.

Last week we bid a sad see you around farewell to Babatunde, who has supported our students, staff and school community for this semester as our resident Social Worker in Schools (SWIS).

We thank Baba for the energy, love and support he provided, ensuring students had a voice and skills and strategies to deal with the ongoing pressures of daily life.

We hope to have many visits from Baba and look forward to welcoming our new SWIS, Grace Cudmore next year, who will continue the great work Baba began.

Good luck and best wishes from all your MGPS family Baba.

This week we also farewell Mrs Clyde-Smith who commences her maternity leave to welcome a new member to the Clyde-Smith family in January.  Best wishes to you and your family Dani.  We can't wait to meet your newest addition to the family.

This week sees the completion of our swimming and life saving.  Students have improved their swimming skills immensely throughout the program and it would be great to see them participate in further lessons to continue that growth.  Thank you to Sophie and the instructors at Sport UNE for all you have done for our students, making them safer in and around the water.

This Friday, 9 December, at 12pm is Presentation Day, a celebration of all students and the school community.  We look forward to seeing all our wonderfully supportive family and community members there.

Next week we hold our Pool Day on Tuesday 13 December.  Please complete the online permission form in COMPASS.

On Friday 16 December we will celebrate and farewell Year 6 at an informal assembly at 2:15pm.  Parents and friends are welcome to attend.

Semester 2 student reports will be available to access on COMPASS this Friday 9th December.

Attendance Matters:

We have set our school a target to achieve 90% attendance 90% of the time for the remainder of 2022 and continuing in 2023.

Have a lovely week!
