VHAP MASTERCLASS

Last week Wheelers Hill Primary School VHAP (Victorian High Ability Students) were joined by VHAP students from Camelot Rise PS, and Glen Waverley South PS to participate in a VHAP Masterclass. Students spent the day being presented with various challenges to showcase their problem solving skills. A hug thank you to Mr Okita for facilitating this and giving our students another opportunity to extend their thinking skills.

SEMESTER TWO REPORTS

Our Semester Two School Reports will be available to access through Compass on Tuesday 13th December.  The Semester reports allow you to see the progress your child has made throughout the year.

This semester is the first since COVID that we are able to complete full reports.

Students have been assessed against the Core Learning Curriculum areas:

English – Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening

Maths – Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, Statistics and Probability.

Digital Technologies

Inquiry subjects (Health and Media Arts – Years 3 - 6)

Capabilities (Personal and Social – Prep; Presonal and Social, Intercultural, Ethical and Critical and Creative Thinking – for all other year levels)

The Department of Education mandate that Semester Reports have a 5- point progression scale. The five point progression scale we use at Wheelers Hill is :

  • Achieving well above expected level
  • Achieving above expected level
  • Achieving at expected level
  • Working towards expected level
  • Requires support to work towards expected level

I thank the teachers (both class teachers and specialist teachers)  for their hard work in writing Semester Reports. The teachers spend a great deal of time outside of school hours analysing data, collating information from different assessments and moderating together to create reports for every student that allows you, as parents,  to track your child’s progress. Thank you to our teaching staff for their professionalism and dedication to this process.

To access the reports please log onto Compass.  School reports stay on Compass for as long as your child is enrolled at Wheelers Hill Primary. A reminder to Year 6 parents and parents of any child leaving at the end of 2022, you need to make sure you have downloaded and saved your reports as you won’t be able to access these once your child has left the school.
