Regional Cross Country Carnival
Sophie (12 year old girls) and Youzhen (11 year old girls) competed in the Regional Cross Country Championships in Hastings this week. Both girls had spectacular runs with Sophie coming in 9th and Youzhen finishing 6th.
The girls will now go on to the State Championships! Sophie and Youzhen should be very proud of their achievements.
This is the first time Ormond P.S. have had two representatives at the State Championship. Good luck girls!

Education Support News
We have made it to the end of another term!
Thank you to Amanda, Daniel, Michelle and Sahar, for the hard work and dedication to our funded and non-funded students.
You have helped inspire their learning, by attending excursions, library time, specialist classes, sports, recess and lunch breaks, First Aid & Reception. Listened when they just wanted a chat, organised Brain breaks and even played basketball and down ball in the yard. Your commitment to both the students and their families shows you are dedicated to not only the school community, but more importantly our students. This is not the easiest job in the school, but you are all amazing individuals and bring so much joy to the students. Take a well-earned break and have a couple of Pyjama days with the family.
A big hearty welcome back to Michelle. Michelle has been on Long Service Leave for the past 6 months, playing golf and spending quality time with her family. We all missed your smiling face and anecdotes about your day. Welcome back Michelle.
Daniel will return back to our little group on Wednesday 13th July after his placement.

Premiers Reading Challenge
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Ormond Primary School is excited to be participating. The PRC application offers a range of exciting features including:
- access to a library catalogue (including book images and blurbs)
- a modern user-friendly interface
- rewarding students with badges as challenge milestones are achieved
- the option for students to mark books as a favourite, give them a star rating or complete a book review
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 8 September 2023. Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books. All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers. To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklist and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge We would like as many children as possible to participate in the Challenge. If your child would like to take part, please ask them talk to their class teacher to receive their username and password. You will then be able to access the website and begin logging books. This is the website to login: Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge (eduweb.vic.gov.au) You or your child will need to click on VPRC login and then add the username and password. Have fun reading!
