Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL)

At SFS, our school expectations are:

Respect, Responsibility and Kindness

This week we have focused on KINDNESS: play fairly and be a good sport. We are trying to teach the children about the expected behaviours when playing outside, as we are noticing in our data that some children are having trouble playing fairly on the basketball courts, soccer pitch and sand pit.

Here is a picture of 2 of our lucky raffle winners from the last week of Term 2 who were spotted demonstrating our PBL values.

Well done!

Seasons for Growth

I will continue to run the Seasons for Growth program in Term 3 starting with a Year 3 and 4 group of children. This program is an 8 week program (40 minute sessions) that uses the image of the seasons of the Year to help children understand what happens when we experience change or loss in our lives.

It is suitable for children who have had an experience of loss or change that they may have found difficult to cope with such as separation, divorce, death of a loved one or pet or other changes like moving house or a friend moving from school. If you would like any more information about the program, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Twilight Community Market

Make sure you have the date marked in your calendar, Thursday 9th November. The market runs from 5 pm to 8 pm. We have a variety of stalls and food trucks booked for the event.

We are so excited and the count down has begun. 17 weeks to go!!!!

Lego Club

Lego club started back this week. The children who came had a lot of fun. While we have lots of fun, Lego club is designed to help children to develop their social skills. We practice skills such as sharing and turn taking, negotiating appropriately with peers, giving and listening to instructions, using eye contact and appropriate body language, having conversations and enjoying playing together to achieve a goal. This week’s build challenge was to work in a group of 2 or 3 to build the letters in your name.
