NAPLAN Results 2023

We have been advised that the Level 3 and 5 Individual NAPLAN Student Reports will be arriving at the school in the week commencing Monday 17th July 2023. I would like to inform you of some changes to this year’s reporting. These are changes being introduced nationally by the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).

NAPLAN will continue to measure student achievement in Numeracy, Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Grammar and Punctuation but the results will now be presented in 4 proficiency levels:

These are:

· exceeding

· strong

· developing

· needs additional support.

This change will give schools, parents and carers clearer information that details student achievement against new proficiency levels.

Students’ NAPLAN reports will continue to show how they are tracking against their peers and provide an indication of their skill levels against national averages and where we would expect them to be in order to get the most out of schooling. This provides valuable information to teachers about how we can continue to support your child.

Each set of NAPLAN results is an important milestone but it’s also important that students know that one result does not define them – these results are about making sure every student gets the support they need so they can continue to get the best from their learning.

When we provide you with your results, you will also receive information about what the new proficiency levels mean.

As ever, you’re welcome to speak to me, or your child’s teacher with any questions about these changes.

Student Free Day Term 3

We will be having our Term 3Student Free Day on Monday 7th August 2023. Students do not attend school on this day. Our staff will be taking part in a professional development day focusing on Phonological Awareness and the teaching of phonics in the classroom, as well as updating their CPR and First Aid qualifications.

Carpark Safety

Our staff car park is very busy throughout the day and is not a safe place for pedestrians. Students should never be walking through the carpark. Could we please ask that families model safety by walking children only on the pathways provided.

Signing In Late Students

A reminder that students arriving late to school, must be accompanied to the school office by a parent and signed in by that parent at the Compass kiosk.

Students are not permitted to sign themselves in when arriving at school. If a student arrives late and is not accompanied, parents will receive an unexplained absence note via the Compass Parent Portal.

Supervision of Students Before and After School

All schools have a legal duty of care to ensure the safety of their students. At no time can children be left unattended in the playground without adult supervision. School playgrounds are supervised by staff from 8.45am each morning and until 3.45pm in the afternoon. Prior to this time and after this time, supervision is not available and we ask that children are not left in the playground unattended at any time.

We have observed some students arriving at school without supervision very early. We ask that for the safety of your child, this does not occur.

TheirCare is the Outside School Hours Care service available at Rangeview Primary School. This service is available from 6.30am until 8.45am each school morning and from 3.30pm until 6.00pm each weekday evening.  Bookings can be made by calling 1300 072 410 or by going to the website  theircare.com.au .

Labelling of Uniform

A reminder to please ensure that all items of school uniform are labelled with your child's name. Our lost property containers are overflowing with many unlabelled items.
