Prayer

Prayer

This week’s prayer comes from the Year 12 Retreat Liturgy. Our Liturgy Leaders Aleena Nelson, Par Ngun Thar and Chantel Formosa planned a truly spiritual and reflective prayer service based on a passage from The book of Jeremiah.

A reading from the Prophet Jeremiah 1:4-10

“Now the word of the Lord came to me saying,

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Then I said, “Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a boy’; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord.”

The Word of the Lord

All:  Thanks be to God

Amen

Reflection written by our Year 12 Liturgy Leaders

The passage from Jeremiah 1 invites us to reflect on the courage required to embrace our calling and step into the purpose that God has for our lives. Like Jeremiah, we may feel inadequate or overwhelmed by the tasks set before us. Yet, God's words to Jeremiah echo through the ages, reminding us that courage does not come from our own strength but from God's presence and empowerment.

God reassured Jeremiah, saying, "Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you." These words remind us that courage is not the absence of fear but the choice to trust in God's faithfulness and provision.

May we find courage in God's presence, knowing that God has consecrated us and appointed us for a purpose. Let us trust in God’s unfailing guidance, allowing God’s words to shape our speech and God’s power to embolden our actions.
