Performing Arts

'Nothing can dim the light that shines from within' - Maya Angelou

Welcome to Term 3 and thank you for welcoming me back into the RHPS community so warmly - it is fabulous to be back after being on parental leave and I am so excited to be taking Performing Arts and sharing in the creative fun in store for the remainder of 2023.

With Dance, Drama and Music at the core of our Level 3/4 and 5/6 Performing Arts classes; Term 3 is set to be a extraordinary!

Our Level 3/4 performers have been learning to express emotions through movement, recreate a story using freeze frames and recognise spaces and lines. Students worked in small groups to create a freeze frame story around a theme of their choice.

Our Level 5/6 performers have been learning to understand the fundamentals of dance, understand 'space' as an element of drama and identify music styles from time. Students worked in small groups to create their own dance routine to a song of their choice.

All students enjoyed exploring new songs with the Boomwhackers to warm up and games involving drama and movement to cool down like 'Fill the Space', 'Secret Leader', 'Night at the Museum', 'Bang!', 'Wink Mystery' and 'Silent Ball'.

A standing ovation - for brilliant teamwork, involvement, respect and kindness to begin our Performing Arts journey for 2023! Well done everyone.

REMINDER: Choir will run on Fridays from 12:30pm-1:00pm in the Performing Arts Room!

Have a lovely week ahead!

Keep shining,

Mrs Oakley.
