Qualifications/Work/Study History:

PhD Candidate: Flooding on the Murray River: how, where and why. Youngest Australian to travel to the Antarctic on a Marine Science Cruise in 1987. Field biologist in the Daintree Rainforest, Central African Rainforest, Great Barrier Reef, High Country. Experience researching ecological responses to fire, effects of climate change on ecosystems, the biology of krill, and the role of corridors in maintaining species diversity. 

 

I have a Masters in Education (Student Wellbeing), a Post Grad in Business Management, and double major in Botany and Zoology. I also have full trades qualification in landscape gardening and experience working in all of these fields. 

 

Before teaching I studied web design and networking, helping set up the first data management system, supporting the transition to one-to-one laptops at St Joseph's College. I have been a proponent of the Learning Mentor Program and been a Learning Mentor since its first years at St Joseph's College.

What do you love most about working at SJC?

The collegiality. Our Brigidine history and values. Our proximity to the Murray and Campaspe Rivers.

 

What has been your most memorable moment in your time at SJC?

Coaching our school murray marathon kayaking team for 5 years between 2005 and 2009. Setting up an environmental science program which focuses on our local landscape, empowering local students to become the decision makers of the future.

 

What is 1 thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?

That I speak fluent German, am a tradie and loved being a home dad in Germany.
