Team Building at

Glen Caulfield Primary Kindergarten

Cultivating a Culture of Shared Learning

Nao Ikoma, Early Childhood Language Sensei  (Teacher)

At Glen Caulfield Primary Kindergarten, building a culture of care and respect within the educational  team, is a key value. Every term, a team member is nominated to organise a casual catch up (something fun) , in which they aim to strengthen their teamwork and shared understandings.

It can be as simple as visiting a local Korean restaurant to a pub dinner.

This term's experience was a team building experience.  We engaged in creative art therapy. I have studied Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy. I am very passionate about well-being, and creative art is a gentle way to reconnect deeply with ourselves. Deeper connection with yourself is a great way to develop a positive relationship with others.

When you know how to listen, speak and connect with yourself, these skills and techniques can be applied to build better relationship with others. I strongly believe this helps us to be much more aware, and thus support us to support children in our job.

I structured this session to suit the needs of our group, so we did some relaxation technique, meditation, journaling, sharing and simple art.

This commitment to building strong connections within the team is reflected in the relationships that have formed with families and children at Glen Caulfield Primary.
