Joyful Connections
Where does joy exist within Glen Centre Road Kindergarten?
From talking with the children, teachers and educators at Glen CRK, it was apparent that joy exists within the connections between us all and the moments that we share together.
We surveyed children across the week and asked them: "What brings you joy at kindergarten?" This is what we heard:
Luca: "Kinetic sand."
Leo M: "Painting."
Eleni: "Going super duper high on the swing!"
Sammy: "Playing with my friends."
Leo C: "Building with the magnet blocks".
Evan: "I like playing with Alex."
Alex: "I like playing police with Evan."
Zander: "Pulling the weeds out of the garden."
Mikayla: "Doing a see-saw on the swing."
Jack: "Playing with the Lego."
Sasha: "Playing in the home corner."
Charis: "I like when I can play in the water."
Ivy: "I love when I come here all day on a Tuesday. I like to see Charis and play without stopping."
Stella: "Playing with Darcy and Lia. And making my mum happy – I give her a big cuddle when I say goodbye."
Amyra K: "I like to make things with the playdough at kinder"
Zoe: "That I get to do painting."
Eloise: "Everything brings me joy."
Evan: "Looking for bugs."
Grayson: "Playing hide and seek!"
Harry T: "Making things."
Flynn: "When we make cakes and do cooking."
Luna: "Making arts and crafts and painting."
Alice: "Playing with my friends."
What brings the teachers and educators joy?
Megan: "When I get to share with children that WOW moment, where they learn something new and they’re really proud of themselves."
Maria-Paula: "Knowing that you have made a
difference. That what you do, it creates an impact."
Maggie: "When I make a connection with a child. In the language program, when children show a curiosity in the language and culture, and expand their understanding of the world."
Rochelle: "Watching the development of the children, and their joy as they experience success when learning something new. Also building a sense of community with the children and their families."
Olivia: "Seeing the development and progress of the children everyday. And when they call my name instead of saying teacher!"
Remya: "I like to play with the children and talk with them."
Tori: "Seeing the children take satisfaction and pride in their achievements; the way their faces light up when they learn something new; and the way they enter each day with an excitement and eagerness for the potential the day holds."
