No Hat No Play

As per our Sun Smart Policy, the No Hat No Play rule started on Monday 14 August next week.

All students will be required to wear a hat whilst outside. If a child is not wearing a hat they will be required to be in an undercover area.

Hats are available for purchase via QKR.  The next order will be placed in term 4.

Non-school hats will be accepted for a short while in allowance for the purchase of the school required hat.

New guideline for Anapen administration

There are some small changes to the policy per training checklist.  Individual anaphylaxis management plans do not need to be altered.

Anaphylaxis now contains a revised Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy Action Plan for Anaphylaxis, following advice from the Therapeutic Goods Administration on the administration time for Anapen autoinjectors. The individual anaphylaxis management plan, anaphylaxis management briefing presentation and training checklist for anaphylaxis supervisors have been updated to reflect this information.

Sugar consumption at school

We have become aware of students making frequent visits to the general store before school and an excessive number of lollies being consumed during school hours.

Studies have shown that the regular consumption of sweets has an adverse association with the academic performance of children.  The brief energy boost felt after consuming sweets is quickly followed by a sharp drop in in blood sugar, often referred to as a crash.  This drop in blood sugar increases fatigue and lowers alertness which impacts children’s ability to learn.

Please be mindful of what your children are consuming before school and what they are bringing to school in their lunch boxes. Please see the Principal Class News for further details about the spray and sucking lollies ban now enforced at CSPS.

Eat Well, Drink Well, Clean Well

The Smile Squad have been onsite to check CSPS students over the past few weeks. Smile Squad delivers free oral health promotion, dental check-ups and treatment to Victorian government school students at school. Good oral health prevents dental problems before they become serious. Smile Squad helps students stay engaged in school and ready to learn.

The Smile Squad presented at assembly Frida 18th August about how to look after your teeth.

The Eat Well, Drink Well, Clean Well brochure provides tips on eating well, explains the benefits of drinking tap water and includes a simple step-by-step guide to brushing teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
