From the Chair

Welcome to Tower Talk Issue 7. It seems such a short time ago that the Kilbreda Past Pupils Committee, with the support of Co Principals, at the time, Nicole Mangelsdorf and Teresa Lincoln decided to produce a Newsletter and here we are in our fourth year. It is heartening to look back at the number of reunions we have hosted and the large number of past pupils for whom we have provided an opportunity to revisit Kilbreda, renew friendships and acquaintances from school days and maintain a connection with the College.

During the first half of the year we have hosted two reunions, 1 and 30 Year groups with five more to come, 10, 20, 40, 50 and 57 Year groups. There are a range of emotions for our Kilbreda women returning to their alma mater especially for the many for whom it is their first visit since leaving school and of course reunions aren’t for everyone.

Following the 30 Year reunion Kathy Kovac nee Lozina and Claire Bilos nee Drewery wrote,

"Kilbreda always encouraged us to be the best version of ourselves and it was evident from the genuine warmth and camaraderie yesterday that we had a very specialyear of girls who have turned into wonderful women.”

Past Pupils of Distinction has been a focus for us this year. We are delighted to have 18 nominations. All are wonderful examples of Kilbreda women making a difference. It is amazing to learn of the diverse areas of expertise, experience and commitment to community that the nominees have encountered in their life journey to date. We thank all who proposed these women as Nominees and look forward to celebrating their successes and commitment to others at the Past Pupils of Distinction Dinner, (further information can be found in this edition). Come along and join the celebration, perhaps organise a table or group to celebrate a Nominee from your class group.
