International Women's Day
IWD Breakfast 2019
On Friday 8 March Kilbreda College hosted a community breakfast to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Nearly 200 members of our community gathered in celebration of International Women’s Day. A number of students shared with those in attendance, via video, women who inspire them, are role models to them and the reasons why these women are inspiring.
Guest speaker, past pupil, Dr Mayumi Purvis, inspired all gathered to continue to strive for gender balance and ‘to nurture and demonstrate our natural qualities and use them to take our place in this world with impact’.
Ella Bater and Gladys Mpakame of Year 9 reflected on the legacy of the Brigidine Sisters who are at the heart of our school community and continue to inspire us to live with “Strength and Kindliness”.
A beautiful performance by Year 12 students, Jasmine Winter and Alessia Muscariello, of ‘When you Believe’ from Prince of Egypt, was a fitting end to the celebration.
