Beginning a New School Year

in the company of others and in the presence of God.

At the beginning of the school year it is good to think about the year ahead. We all have many hopes for 2017 and possibly some fear and uncertainty.  It is good to know that God is with us now and will be …always.

Take time to reflect on how the school year has started for you.

  • What has been your highlight?
  • Has there been a concern or low light?  If so, how have you managed it?

Now, think about your goals for the school year ahead?

What talents or gifts will you need to achieve these?

When we develop our gifts we grow and become fully alive.  This is God’s wish for each one of us; Jesus said ‘I have come so that you may have life, and have it to the full’.   As we begin this new school year may we have real belief in ourselves, our gifts and our abilities, so that the coming year will be fulfilling for each of us.  May we always be mindful of the needs of others and the importance of building our school community of St Bede’s College so that it is a place of justice and belonging for all.

The Lord who created you says, ‘Do not be afraid – I am with you.

I have called you by name – you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; Your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burnt; the hard trials that come will not hurt you.

For I am the Lord your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you. I will give up whole nations to save your life, because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honour. Do not be afraid – I am with you.’  Isaiah (43:1-5)

Loving God, bless our students.

Let them enjoy their learning and take delight in new discoveries.

Help them to persevere in their studies and give them the desire to learn all things well.

Bless their teachers too. Let them strive to share their knowledge with gentle patience and endeavour always to bring the truth to eager minds.

Grant that students and teachers alike may follow Jesus Christ, the way, the truth, and the life, forever and ever. Amen

Live Jesus in our hearts … forever.
