SCHOOL CROSSING WARRIGAL ROAD
St Bede's is very fortunate to have a crossing supervisor before and after school to assist the students in crossing 'a very busy" Warrigal Road.
It is important that students follow the direction of the crossing supervisor.
In the interests of student safety please
*Stand behind the white line until instructed to cross by the Crossing Supervisor
*It is important for the Crossing Supervisor to make eye contact with the motorists of her intention to walk out onto the road; 2 blows of the whistle is the signal for you to cross and not beforehand.
*Walk over the crossing between the white lines, driveway to driveway. DO NOT CUT ACROSS THE WHITE LINES EARLY.
*If you are on a bike and you wish to use the crossing, you must get off your bike and follow the same rules as pedestrians.
STUDENTS THAT RIDE BIKES TO SCHOOL
Roads around St Bede’s are extremely busy and congested before and after school. Students need to adhere strictly to all road rules.
All students that ride to school are reminded that they are to wear an approved bicycle safety helmet at all times and that their helmet should be done up.
Once at school, students are to LOCK THEIR BIKES IN THE BIKE CAGE preferably to one of the stands, the cyclone fence or to a friend’s bike; remember the cage is a storage facility not a secure facility.
Bike helmets should be locked to the bike as well or placed in their locker.
If you need to leave your bike on the school property overnight, let your Coordinator know who will arrange for it to be locked safely undercover.
Boys are asked not to be in the vicinity of the bike cage during the day.
HESLOP STREET PARKDALE – riding bikes
Students are reminded that Heslop Street Parkdale is a ONE WAY Street for cars and bikes; you are not allowed to enter Heslop Street from The Corso.
To ride into Heslop Street up the hill (or on the footpath) from The Corso is dangerous and illegal; residents have notified the police who will be patrolling.
Student safety is a priority and the last thing we want is an accident. As cars come down the hill in Heslop Street towards the Corso, they are not looking for oncoming traffic.
You are not allowed to ride your bike on the footpath; by law, only those under 12 years of age are allowed.
