VCE Leaders' Report
Throughout Term 1, and leading into Term 2, the senior year levels have experienced many exciting events, and opportunities. The Year 12 breakfast has been hosted every Friday morning by the senior leadership team, providing our students with a delicious start to their day, and a way to remain motivated and focused on Friday afternoons.
Last term, the Year 11s and 12s celebrated Easter with a Easter egg hunt on the oval. Though over quickly, due to the massive amount of participation, everyone had fun and got some free chocolate to begin their holiday celebrations. Senior students also had the opportunity to verse staff in a game of netball. While students lost in a score too embarrassing to repeat, it was hilariously entertaining for every year level and has inspired the students to beat the teachers next semester.
Both the senior years, had the opportunity this semester to undertake a 'Study Skills' program which showed students the study habits, they’ll need when progressing throughout the year.
The Year 11 Business Management students also put on a Market Day for the school, coming up with their own product ideas and then selling them in a supremely successful manner! This hands-on SAC for the business students was a blast for the rest of the school, who eagerly spent their money on the delicious products.
On Thursday and Friday of this week, the Year 12 Theatre Studies students will be putting on their performance of ‘Masquerade’ for a nearly sold out audience! Well done on your work in practising and organising the play and best of luck for the upcoming performances!

Year 12 Breakfasts
The Year 12’s are still enjoying a positive, social and nutritious start to their Fridays with their breakies.
Don’t forget, these are running from 8.00 am to 8:25 am in the VCE kitchen area.
Well done to our dedicated captains for organising!
Market Day
On Friday 4 May, Units 1 & 2 Business Management students participated in Market Day, furiously baking, cooking and preparing delicious products for staff and students to purchase.
Despite the wintery weather, the stalls were a great success and a credit to all the hard work that students put in. Great job!
Year 11 Presentation Balls
The Year 11 Presentation Balls take place next Friday 18 May and Saturday 19 May (7 pm) at The Centre Ivanhoe.
GAT
The General Achievement Test (GAT) is approaching this term. This will take place on Wednesday 13 June.
The GAT is a test of general knowledge and skills in: Written Communication, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Humanities, The Arts and Social Sciences.
All students completing a Units 3&4 subject will need to complete the GAT even if they completed it in 2017.
Students will also be participating in GAT preparation sessions leading up to the GAT.
VCE SACs
Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a school-approved absence. If there are extenuating circumstances please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.
Once a student has been approved for SAC redemption, they will be required to sit the SAC the next available time slot.
The times for SACs are:
- Monday SAC Redemption 3 - 4.30 pm
- Tuesday during IPT Periods 5 and 6
- Thursday during IPT Periods 5 and 6
- Friday during IPT period 6 (one period SAC only)
VCE Attendance
It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.
If students have reached their limit for absences from class there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed. Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon Study Periods, or after school.
Towards the end of term, it is imperative that students make up classes they have missed.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have Study Periods, periods 1 + 2.
Absences on COMPASS
Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved. You can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.
You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
