Tony Vallance

FINALIST

Victorian Secondary Educator

On behalf of the school community I would like to congratulate Tony for being a finalist in this year’s Victorian Education Excellence Awards.  Although Tony wasn’t the overall winner, being one of the top three educators in the state is quite an achievement.

Part of Tony’s contribution to education recently included an invitation to be part of a panel at RMIT to discuss the topic of student engagement and motivation.  There were educators from both the public and private sector, the common theme being; the importance of student ownership of their learning and receiving meaningful feedback on their work. Tony was able to discuss the wide array of  programs and curriculum being offered at LHS.

To us, Tony is a winner, he is a passionate and dedicated educator of whom we are very proud!

VCAA Exams – Year 12

Following a very successful Festivities Day, I have been so impressed and very proud of the way in which the Year 12 students (and Year 11 students studying a Unit 3/4 subject) have gone about undertaking their exams.   The exams finish up this week and results will be available in mid December.

Thank you to everyone involved and particularly to the VCE team who have been instrumental in ensuring students were well prepared for the exams.

Shopping Precinct

There have been a number of issues over at the Market  Place, particularly in the morning, that have attracted the attention of the police.   It is an out of bounds area for Lilydale High School students.

Our expectation is that unless in the company of a parent, students avoid the area and arrive at school on time every morning.

Please assist us by discussing with your child the importance of avoiding the area and travelling directly to school. This will ensure that our students are safe and avoid any of the incidents that are requiring police intervention.

There are also school sanctions for students being at the shopping precinct.
