Deputy Principal's Report

Nazareth College Smart Phone App

Most Parents and Guardians are aware that our Nazareth College Smart Phone App is an excellent way to receive notices and reminders from the College as push notifications. However, families may not be aware of other functions provided by the App.

  • Upcoming events on the College Calendar may be viewed in several ways. From the Home Page tapping on ‘Events’ will display a chronological list of major College events. Similarly, College events can be viewed by month by tapping on the ‘Calendar’ icon at the bottom of the screen.
  • The Parent Information tab on Home Page provides a wealth of information for families. A wide range of documents is available in this section of the App including Handbooks, a variety of Calendars and Letters to Parents/Guardians.
  • College Newsletters are also available on the App in the Newsletter section.
  • A number of other letters which are sent home to families are available on the App in the News section.
  • The App also has a ‘Parent eForms’ section which includes templates to allow parents to communicate easily with the College, such as the ‘Change of Details’ form. Using this, parents can quickly and easily notify the College of any change to their contact details.

To download the App simply go to the App Store if you have an i-Phone or to the Google Play Store if you have an android phone and search for our school name, "Nazareth College Noble Park North".

If you have any queries in relation to the Nazareth App please do not hesitate to contact the College.

Notifying Student Absence

When a student is absent we ask that parents notify us before 9.30am. The preferred method for notifying the College of your child’s absence is to send a text message to 0429 451 964.  This is a virtual number and can only be used for SMS messages.  Parents may also call 9790 8145 if you wish to speak to someone in Student Services. If we are not advised of a student’s absence the College will send the following text message (SMS) to parents’/guardians’ mobile phones at approximately 11.00am:

Nazareth [pastoral group] records show that [student’s name] is absent

today, [date]. Pls provide reason by reply SMS or phone 97908145.

The message will arrive on parents’ phones displaying the number 0429 451 964.  Parents should store this number in their phones as ‘Nazareth’ so that when a message arrives they are aware that it has come from the College.  Parents can then reply by SMS or by telephoning the College on 9790 8145. This message will only be sent if we have not been informed previously of the reason for the student’s absence.  It is very important, therefore, that parents/guardians contact the College before 9.30am to inform us when your child will be absent.

PLEASE NOTE: Students are still required to give their Pastoral Teacher a written note from their parents outlining the dates concerned and the reason for the absence when they return to school. Parents/guardians are asked to advise the College, in writing, well in advance of a known and extended absence from school.

Rowville and Keysborough School Buses

Students who catch the Rowville and Keysborough School Buses are being reminded by drivers that they are required to wear seatbelts while they are travelling on the buses to and from school. As well as being essential in the interests of students’ safety, this is also a requirement under Victorian Road Safety Regulations. Parents are asked to re-iterate to their children the need to wear seatbelts while travelling. Please note that it is the responsibility of passengers (and not of the bus driver) to ensure seat belts are worn.
