NAS Golf Tournament

The John XXIII NAS Golf Team acquitted themselves very well in competition for the NAS Golf Shield for 2019. Held at the Wembley Golf Complex, weather-wise, the day was perfect for competitors with the sun shining and a very light breeze making scoring conditions optimal. Congratulations to Shaun Raj (Year 11) who, as our top ranked player, managed the best round for our team and achieved the honour of Runner-up Best Gross score (total number of shots or ‘off-the-stick’) with a score of 90 beating his 2018 score by 4 shots.

Efforts of all our players were very much appreciated with additional members of the team including Year 11 students Henry Seah, Blake Mettam, Myles Allert, Toby Muenchow, Hudson Blenkinsop, Year 8 students Jack Everett, Carlie Clarke and Kristian Roe (Year 11 - reserve). While it was a long day (and longer for some) all players had their highlights and have hopefully gained some impetus to continue being involved in the sport. Congratulations also to Sacred Heart College for a well fought victory, breaking the stranglehold that John XXII College has maintained on this competition for a number of years.

ACC Representative Cricket Team 2020

Player nominations are now open for the ACC Representative Cricket Team 2020 for the match against the Combined Government Schools on the 13 March 2020 at the WACA ground.  Net selection trials will be held in mid-late November 2019 (dates/venues TBC) and a final selection trial match will be held on Friday 6 March 2020 at Murdoch University Ground.

The representative match against the Combined Government Schools team is scheduled to be played at the WACA in 2020. This is an unbelievable cricket opportunity and all schools are encouraged to nominate quality players for this highly regarded match. All players selected receive an ACC “baggy yellow” cricket cap from the association.

The ACC is now calling for nominations from interested and talented players. On-line nominations are due to the ACC by Friday 8 November 2019.

The process for nominations is as follows:

Positions for players are open to all cricket players that will be enrolled at the school in 2020; players MUST be of representative quality. There is no age restriction, but being an “open” age team, selected players are usually in Years 10, 11 or 12 and must be capable of playing at U18 level.

Information about net selection trials in late November 2019 will be provided to players and schools ASAP once nominations are finalised. Players that were selected in the final team earlier this year or who are national or state representatives do not have to attend the net trial as they will be automatically passed through to the trial match in March next year.

Attached is the flyer for the students. For more information please contact Trent Sharpe at the ACC on 9241 5298 or trent.sharpe@cewa.edu.au

Congratulations

Congratulations to Lara Sivwright (Year 9) on being selected in the School Sport WA Touch Football Team to compete in Canberra. We wish you all the best at the National Schools Championships.
