Magis

About 75 people attended the final Magis Awards Breakfast on Monday.  Major awards for 2019 were presented by Mr Henderson, Mrs Negus and Ms Bouwman, as well as a range of awards and certificates for Magis events in Semester Two.

 

The  Magis champion  scholar for each year group was:

 

Year 12: Rory Hewson  

Altiora: Charlie Richards  

Year 11: Ben Linsten   

Year 10: Caitlin Green  

Year 9 Genevieve Ferguson-Allen   

Year 8:  Evie Rigg    

Year 7: Maya Mintz

 

Champion Debater Trophies were awarded to Rory Hewson (Year 12), Ben Linsten (Year 11), Skye MacMillan (Year 10), Genevieve Ferguson-Allen (Year 9), James Mitchell (Year 8) and Meg Derbyshire (Year 7).

 

Trophies for Outstanding performers at the World Scholar’s Cup Global round were presented to:

 Seniors: Bella Pether      Juniors: Evie Rigg

 

Chess champions were:  Year 11: Dominic McCleary   Year 10: Tom Kitchen    Year 9: Charlie Griffiths

Year 8: Seb Raj  and Year 7: Jed Hopkins

 

Magis Service Awards were presented to Year 12 Magis Captain Rory Hewson, and committee leaders Charlie Richards and Cullen Binet for their magnificent contributions to the Magis program, whilst Ms Kirralee Dawson was awarded the Coach of the Year Award for her outstanding work with debating and World Scholar’s Cup teams.

 

A ten minute highlights video was shown at the end of the breakfast and the hardcover Magis Chronicle Yearbook containing full results of Magis events for 2019 will be available soon in PDF version and hardcover by the end of November.   Warmest thanks to all staff, parents and students who attended the breakfast.

 

Finally, congratulations to the Tournament of Minds STEM team that competed impressively in the Nationals in Hobart, and best wishes to the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions teams that leave for America on Wednesday,  and the Year 9  Magis Quest team that competes at UWA on 12& 13 November.
