Grandparents/Special Friend Day

NED Show

Thank you to everyone for supporting this incursion.

The Kindness Adventure assembly was a great success last Monday.

It utilized storytelling, music, magic, audience participation and interactive videos to tell the story of a cartoon character named NED.

Our adventure began when NED and Malorie (our presenter) accepted an invitation to visit the country of Kenya. NED was initially uncertain about the cultural differences, but he quickly learnt he has something powerful in common with the kids in Kenya...a smile and a kind heart.

Throughout the show, the performer highlighted the satisfaction that takes place when children show kindness and acceptance towards those who are perceived as “different” from them.

The Kindness Adventure presentation supported our initiatives for developing a positive and caring school climate and showcased the sense of satisfaction that takes place when a child chooses to show kindness, respect and acceptance.

We sold most of the handmade items, so will definitely be able to pass the program onto a less fortunate school for free.

Our students were most concerned that many people in Kenya did not have clean water to drink and raided their piggy banks or their parent's wallets to provide funds for more water wells to help provide drinkable water for them.

A special thank you to our Yr. 6 Student Wellbeing Leaders – Sedona & Alex and their friends and Jacqui Cooper & Brighid Fahy for helping sell the items each day.

As we were also celebrating 100 Days of School, the Yr.4 students discovered

100 Acts of Kindness and made a bunting to hang in their classrooms to remind themselves.

Yr. 2F wrote a recount about the Kindness Adventure assembly, which you can read below.

Please continue to promote the NED message and use the parent resources available. www.KindnessAdventure.com .

Ned’s Kindness Adventure by 2F

Today, all the students and teachers of Galilee went to see Ned’s Kindness Adventure in the Hall. It was set in Kenya and there were lots of pictures on the big screen.

First, we sat down on the carpet with our class. Mrs Price introduced us to Malorie, she was the host and she is Ned’s friend. Malorie started with a song called Smile. Malorie was doing some hand movements and some magic. She had a big smile on her face.

Next, Malorie introduced us to Ned and the Kindness Adventure. A principal from a Kenyan school invited Ned and Malorie to come and visit them. When Ned told his friends that he was going to Kenya, they said mean things about Kenya and their culture.

Then, Ned was feeling nervous and hid under his covers before it was time to go to Kenya. Malorie helped him feel better about going and encouraged him to try new things! At last, they flew to Kenya. It took them 22 hours to get to Kenya.

When Ned and Malorie arrived in Kenya, the principal met them at the airport and she gave them handmade Kenyan necklaces and she greeted them in Swahili. During their trip in Kenya, Ned and Malorie learnt to try new things such as food and clothing and also learnt about what their houses are made of, how they get water and they also tried new accessories like necklaces and cuffs. They also learnt about different tribes in Kenya and met a chief of the village. Malorie and Ned learnt that different can be good.

The Ned Kindness show was really interesting and we learnt that caring is cool, we need to include others, we can make friends anywhere, each person matters a lot and different can be good.

From Tuesday, there will be items that will be sold in the Hall that will help schools who don’t have much money. They will be able to also see The Ned Kindness Adventure. Some of the money raised will be used to help Kenyan people access clean water.

2F had a great time watching the Ned Kindness Show and we are looking forward to buying bracelets, necklaces, animals and keyrings that the Kenyan people have made.
