Sports Uniforms
The new Galilee sport singlets and shorts arrived this week and are designed for multi-purpose use across many sports when representing Galilee. The singlets are reversible with the intent that Galilee teams can compete against each other at Hoop Time.
The singlets will be worn by our Year 3-6 students at Dendy Athletics this Friday and also at Hoop Time later this term.
Thank you to the Community Improvement Team, especially Michelle McCormack and Deb Butcher who designed the new uniforms and organised the production of them.
We thank the school community, through fundraising from the Trivia Night, that has made it possible to purchase the new singlets and shorts.
School Closure Day
On Monday August 6, the staff participated in professional development about Peer Observation. The day was facilitated by various staff members and Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM) staff.
Peer observation is a requirement of the Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority (VRQA) and the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) where all teachers are required to:
-engage in professional learning and improve practice
-engage with colleagues and improve practice and
-apply professional learning and improve student learning.
What is Peer Observation?
• teachers observing each other’s practice and learning from one another
• focused on teachers’ individual needs and the opportunity to both learn from others’ practice and offer constructive feedback to peers
• aims to support the sharing of practice and building awareness about the impact of own teaching in order to affect change.
Why Peer Observation?
• provides opportunities to discuss challenges and successes with trusted colleagues
• supports sharing of ideas and expertise among teachers
• builds a community of trust through opening classroom practice to a wider audience
• encourages openness and sharing of practice with a focus on improving impact on learning.
