Principal's Report

Last Friday I was fortunate to have a visit from a City of Port Phillip Concillor, Marcus Pearl. Marcus was very interested in Galilee and how they could assist us with our projects. We discussed ideas for increasing the recreational space for our students and funding opportunities for our Masterplan. He has been very proactive and I look forward to announcing what benefits for Galilee can be arranged.

How much screen time is too much?

With technology currently being an integral part of our lives, it's hard to know when to switch off.

Below is an article from Australian Government's eSafety Commissioner.

There is no magic guideline for the ‘right’ amount of time for children to spend online. This is a matter for you to decide—but there are guidelines that can help you in addition to factoring in the age of your kids, their maturity level and your family dynamics.

As mentioned in last week's bulletin, Open Mornings will be on Friday mornings instead of Mondays starting from tomorrow.

Outstanding Fees

Currently, there is approximately $205,000 of school fees to be paid for 2018.

Unless you have made a payment plan with the school, fees are to be fully paid by 8th September, 2018. We appreciate your assistance as the funds are required for the daily running of the school.

This Saturday August 11, the annual Bunnings BBQ fundraiser will be held at Bunnings Port Melbourne. Dendy Athletics

Seventy-five students will represent Galilee at the Dendy Athletics tomorrow at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park. Participants have been able to train at Lakeside Stadium so I'm sure they'll do their best. Thank you to the staff and parents attending to allow our students a chance to participate. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to reading a full report in the next newsletter.

Father's Day Breakfast

Plans for the Father's Day Breakfast on the 31st August are already underway. As is tradition at Galilee, we would like to have a running slideshow of the our Galilee Dads and special men in our lives. Photos of students with their Dads can be emailed to:

All photos must be received by Monday 27th August to allow for time to the video to be made.

Student Absences

If your child is absent, please call the office and press 1 to leave a message clearly stating your child's name, class and reason for absence (sick/morning appointment/family etc.).  Please do not email/Dojo as they are not always read in time and/or staff members may be away.

Prep 2019 Transition Day

Next Tuesday, 14th August, our Prep students for 2019 will be attending their first transition session 'Story Time' with our current Prep teachers Miss Evans & Miss Bamford. In 2019, we will have three Prep classes attending Galilee.

Science Week

National Science Week runs between 11th - 19th August. Students will be involved in classroom based science activities and awards given at assembly next week will be based around Science.

Try the activity on the School Community page from Miss Evans.

Insight SRC Survey

Every year, Insight SRC conduct a survey on behalf of Galilee to identify strengths and areas for development in our school. We believe it is important to encourage parent voice to help the ongoing improvement of Galilee.

If your child has not brought home a survey with login details and you would like to complete the survey, there are limited spare sheets in the office.

Surveys are to be completed by Friday 24th August.

For a chance to go into a raffle to win TWO tickets to our school musical, name and date the survey letter once completed and return to the office by Friday 17th August, 2018.
