Stephanie Alexander Kitchen

Sonia Nista - Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Specialist

Our most recent adventure in the Stephanie Alexander kitchen took us to China, where students created and enjoyed delicious vegetable dumplings, Simple fried rice and a Salad of the Imagination with an Asian dressing. Needless to say, this was a big hit with the kids who have never tried dumplings before and also those that are familiar with them and love them!

We used some lovely Asian greens from our garden, and also learnt that we can use the leaves from our broccoli plants in the filling too. This was also the perfect time to include the corn which was harvested, hulled and frozen as kernels earlier this year.

A big thank you goes out to Vivian Chen, parent of Ryan in 4H for her assistance with this menu.

Here is what some of the students from 5R had to say about our Chinese menu:

Grade 5R are taking a quick trip to China and eating the best vegetarian dumplings! Also eating the Salad of the imagination and fried rice too. The best meal voted by the class was the amazing Salad of the Imagination, but all dishes were enjoyed.

Thank you also to Planet hope, for their continued support of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen program.
