P & C News

YOUR SCHOOL NEEDS YOU!!

With the P&C Annual General Meeting next week (Wednesday 21st March), the time has come for the existing executive committee to hand over the reins to others.  All general memberships and executive positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) lapse at the AGM every year.

We are fortunate at Palm Beach State School to have a P&C Association and school administrators who take a consultative and cooperative approach.  If you would be interested in learning more about the executive positions and what is involved, please contact us at pandc@palmbeacss.eq.edu.au

As a parent of a student at our school, you are not automatically a member of the P&C.  To become a member you must first attend a general meeting (these are typically held on the third Wednesday of each month during school term) and present your membership application form in person, which is approved at the end of that meeting.

This means that should an issue arise during the school year which you feel strongly about, and you are not yet a member, you will not be able to vote on the matter until you have attended a general meeting first… i.e. you will qualify to vote at your second meeting.

The Annual General Meeting is the only meeting where a person may apply to become a member without being present.  This will be held on Wednesday 21st March 2018 at 5:30pm in the school library.

To become a part of the process and ensure you’ll have your say, please either join us at our AGM, or submit a membership application beforehand.  Membership forms have been sent home with your child, and spares are available from both the school website and the office.  Alternatively, please contact us anytime at pandc@palmbeacss.eq.edu.au.

By purchasing books through Book Club the school receives 20% to spend on resources for the school!  Please ensure you place your order by Wednesday 14th March.

Doughraiser

Baker’s Delight at 19th Ave donate 10% of purchases back to our school! If you are shopping there, don’t forget to mention you are from Palm Beach State School so they can add this to our “Doughraiser” total. And please feel free to tell your neighbours, friends, parents, grandparents to do the same!

Op Shop

Did you know that our Op Shop gladly accepts donations of old school uniforms and school shoes that your children have grown out of? The Op Shop operates within the school and is located in the Farmer’s Shed, just inside the gates at the eastern end of the 19th Ave school carpark.  Hours are 2:15pm – 3:00pm on Thursday and 8:15am – 9:00am on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Pop in and say hi to our wonderful volunteers, Sam, Kristy, Bazil and Kaz, and you might also pick up a bargain or two!

Kind Regards,
