Kia Ora Koutou - Greetings to All

I trust and hope you all had a relaxing, reflective, rewarding Easter Weekend.

Whatever our beliefs, Easter is an opportunity to think about family values, how we can serve and care for others, and of course - chocolate!

I spent my Easter in Gisborne and Mahia for a family reunion. I had hoped to visit some schools while there - including Mayfair school in Hastings - but in the end circumstances dictated otherwise.

Ricardo Fox is a good friend who is principal of Mayfair School in Hastings. He and his two Deputy Principals visited us  a couple of weeks ago. They were, in their own words, blown away by what they saw and experienced in our school. They loved our Mud Kitchen and Play Based Approach to learning in our junior school. They were so impressed with the quiet focus in our senior school - with children managing their learning in our Flexible Learning Environment.

They were very impressed with our three upgraded middle school rooms - especially the lit-up forest in room 17 (you can see a picture of it in the banner heading on our Property Update page).

Our PMP room is another set-up they want to replicate and ditto with our Loose Parts set-up by our awesome Native Bush area. They were also greatly impressed with our fabulous Music Room with Kabuki Theatre and our quite stunning array of instruments.

They want to replicate our cool Intercom and Outdoor Sound System, but in terms of sound, they were blown away by our Dance Stage and Sandpit. Our kids were so energised by the music and having so much fun, our visitors wanted to join them. Our kids even got into a Dance Battle at that time, which is just so cool when it happens.

I will see you all in week 11 - take care all.
