Grade Four

Welcome to Term 2! It has been great to see the students return to school after the holidays well rested and excited for another term.

In Literacy, students are learning how to construct an information report. They will be creating their own information report about one of the animals that we saw during our Melbourne Zoo excursion this week. Students will also be spending time developing their reading comprehension strategies during Reader’s Workshop, and creating texts in their choice of genre during Writer’s Workshop. The teachers are looking forward to reading some amazing writing this term!

In Maths, students have been working on mapping and directional language. Our new mapping skills were very helpful in finding our way around the zoo this week! A particular highlight of this unit so far has been the use of the Ozobots, which all the students really enjoyed.

Our Inquiry unit this term focuses on sustainability and animal habitats, and we were excited to start this unit with our excursion to Melbourne Zoo. We were extremely lucky to enjoy the beautiful weather while we walked around the zoo, learning about many different animals and their habitats.  A huge thank you to all the parent helpers who attended this excursion with their children!
