Levels 1 & 2

Level 1 Update

The Level 1 students have loved playing in their new developmental play area. Thanks to donations from parents, the Level 1 teachers have been able to set up some imaginative play spaces in the corridors outside our rooms. We have a café, complete with tables for customers to dine at, a cash register area to take orders and pay, plus a full kitchen for our chefs to cook! We also have a hairdressing salon, with customers ready to have their hair cut, styled and coloured. A big thanks to those parents that donated items, we are happy to accept more items that encourage imaginative play (no books or soft toys) and will share any duplicates with Foundation and Level 2.  We have also been doing a lot of work on Place Value for Maths. We have used MAB blocks to investigate numbers and count by Tens and Ones. We have even worked out how much we are worth in MAB by making ourselves out of Hundreds, Tens and Ones!

Level 2 Update

This week the Grade 2s have been learning about persuasive writing. Before we even began writing, we got ourselves practised in coming up with good reasons for a position. We held mini debates in which we worked on arguments such as, summer vs winter and cats vs dogs. The kids came up with some fantastic ideas and reasons to back these up. With all their new debating skills, get ready for their nagging to be supercharged and have some good reasons put aside for why they can’t have any more screen time or stay up that little bit later.
