News from Prep

In Prep we have been very busy with our learning and we have completed our second week of full-time Prep. We are loving being at school every day and being part of whole school activities, such as Ride2School Day and International Happiness Day. Here is a little insight into all of the fun and engaging experiences we have participated in Prep so far.

UOI

In our unit of inquiry, we have explored ‘Who we are,’ we are becoming familiar with our learner profile attributes. Our LP puppet has helped us understand what it means to be a risk-taker, communicator as well as being a caring and principled learner. Through a range of engaging texts, playing with our friends, writing, drawing and singing has helped us develop a deeper understanding of what it means and feels like to belong.

Writing

In Writing, we are becoming experts at writing sentences. We are taking risks and having a go at sounding out words as well as including captain capitals, finger spaces and full stops in our sentences. We have enjoyed writing about the things we like to do, for example, Grace enjoys playing unicorns and Bella enjoys playing with her friends. As we are approaching the end of the term, we are going to have a party to celebrate all of the letter sounds we have learnt so far. We are going to be dressing up as our favourite letter sound as well as engaging in a range of fun activities such as cooking, painting, dancing, drawing, writing and creating. 

Maths

In Maths, we are becoming pros at counting from 1-50 in the correct order. We have also enjoyed learning our tricky teen numbers by playing games such as tic teen numbers and going on a number search around the school with our buddies. In Maths, we have also been working in teams to place numbers in the correct order. During this team activity, we were caring, communicators and risk-takers.

Buddy time

We have loved playing and getting to know our buddies this term. They have made us feel safe and included within our school community and we are so excited to participate in our very first friendship fair with our buddies.
