Year Level Reports
Congratulations to our Year 7s who have almost completed their first term of Secondary School. We are immensely proud of the way they have adapted to all the challenges that being a Year 7 Student presents. They have now mastered the art of reading a timetable, being prepared for multiple classes, and are used to seeing different teachers every day.
A big thank you to all the Year 7 students who attended our Athletics Day, it was by far one of the best attended days in recent memory. We congratulate all the Year 7s who participated in events, it was a joy to see so many young people giving things a go, we strongly encourage Year 7s to continue trying new things each and every year.
Next term is quite a busy one for Year 7. With the Term One settling in and adjustment-time now concluded students will start to notice a more academic focus, more assessment tasks and preparation for their NAPLAN assessment. We are fully confident that our Year 7s are up to the challenge.

The Year 8 participation in the annual athletics carnival was exceptional, being the best represented year level, and as such the students that attended the carnival were rewarded with a special snack last Monday. Some of our students have excelled in recent assessments, with some notable standouts being Brodie H recording over 12 in the Beep test, Twana G, Anhad S and Sandra A in English, Josh Q who was the first student to complete one of our self-paced programming courses and Artin K who has had great growth rate in Mathematics in the last Maths Pathways cycle. We look forward to our 8s continuing to show the school values in Term Two.

On the 29th March our bold Year 9 students have their next reality check and have their 21st century skills put to the test, in terms of career pathways. Students will engage in an Industry Taster experience and participate in a number of industry linked activities including drone flying, virtual reality, podcasting, digital and physical prototyping. They will tour Melbourne Polytechnic’s training facilities, visiting a state-of-the-art Green Skills Centre to learn about sustainable technologies and the Aquaculture Training and Applied Research Centre. On a more sporty note, our mixed Year 9 and 10 Boys Volleyball Team has made it through to the next round later in the year. Congratulations, and great to see all those lunch time trainings paying off.

Our Year 10 and 11 students have settled into their Senior School Building well, utilising the facilities offered to them on a daily basis.
Senior school students showed great school pride with our recent visit from local MP Lily D’Ambrosio in helping to ensure their building and its surrounds were neat, clean and tidy.
While our Year 10s are enjoying a wide variety of subjects across their curriculum this term our 11s are focusing on their VCAL, VCE and VET subjects at an in-depth level as they embrace this new and challenging year with enthusiasm. Students have been navigating study expectations and SAC and SAT requirements and experiences this term. They have settled in well and are forming positive routines and maintaining strong friendships. We look forward to watching them mature across Term Two and wish them well in their upcoming studies.
Due to a lack of numbers there will be no Year 10/11 formal this year. Students in each year level are instead in the process of identifying activities they may wish to undertake over the course of the school year, which will give students something to look forward to and work towards.
