From Principal Team

Term 1 has come and gone with a blink of the eye. Engagement and excitement are extremely high around the school and our commitment to our school working with community is flourishing.

This year we have partnered with South Morang Football Netball Club to share some space and create some subsidies to build girls footy, had Scouts return on site, reopened the Bharani School and re-established K9 obedience training.

Term 2 shapes as an exciting term on the Primary Campus with a number of initiatives happening to support and extend our students. A number of incursions and excursions will support our extensive learning in the classroom and allow our students to put the theory into real life. Our 5/6 camp will also be a highlight for students. Interest and payment for the camp has been excellent with over 100 students indicating that they will be attending. Thank you to parents who have been so quick to pay and hand in notes.

Some other reminders for Term 2:

  • NAPLAN will run for students across Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in Week 4;
  • Life Education van will be at our school from Friday May 7th until Monday May 17th;
  • Year 3/4 Young Einstein program;
  • Year 3-6 Writers Extension group;
  • Austin Health CASEA program running across Terms 2-4;
  • STEM and Digital Technology day;
  • Mother’s Day Stall Wednesday 5th May;
  • Special afternoon to celebrate the significant females in our lives – Friday 7th May.

Community consultation will be a priority next term with opportunities for your voice in:

What will a Year 6 graduation look like?;

Developing a communication strategy to streamline information between home and school.

We need your help to make decisions about your School and we still have vacancies on school council – put your hand up we will be very welcoming.  On that note I would like to welcome Amanda F who has joined us and farewell Jaspreet who has resigned his position and thank him for his work last year.

There will be some staff changes for Term 2. We will farewell Chris K and Angie R who are off to explore new challenges in retirement. We will welcome Michelle T to our Year 2 team, Sally to our Year 3 team and Amanda A will join our Tutor team 2 days per week.

Nancy, Sue and Gemma will be honing their Math skills and have reduced class time and Liam will be exploring some STEM concepts to build the capacity of our children to be creative and curious.

We finished the Term with a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny who arrived by helicopter and was greeted by Sarah and Cooper together with a very excited group of Primary Students.
