Assistant Principals' Report

Reflecting on the last few weeks, we have all been very busy with some amazingly inspirational activities at the school. In the last newsletter article, we celebrated International Women’s day. In the Year 7-9 Connect Classes students were taught a wide range of engaging activities that highlighted the importance of this day.

On Friday 19th March we recognised and celebrated National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence and ran some activities with students at lunchtime in the school plaza. It was great to see the students getting involved with writing positive words against bullying and violence given the weather over the last few days these words would have all washed away but hopefully they are still resonating with our students.

Earlier in the Term the Principal team and members of the Positive Climate for Learning School Improvement Team conducted round table interviews with the applicants that applied for Student Leadership roles at the College. On the Wednesday 10th March, we held our Annual Induction Ceremony and celebrated our new leadership team. In this edition of the newsletter, we have included the 2021 Leadership Team. We are looking forward to working closely with them this year on a variety of school activities and events.

Our new initiative, ASPIRE day, was run with Year 9 parents and students with great success. We had invigorating discussions about improving student engagement and achievement at Year 9, ensuring that students and parents are aware of student’s growth patterns in literacy and numeracy throughout their schooling and considering how their growth might be improved through setting goals. Students created their own vision boards and completed the Morrisby Assessment on this day.
