Junkyard Beats

This week the children were very fortunate to have participated in an incursion with 'Junkyard Beats'.  This included a theatrical performance by the creative Junkyard Beats team, and a junkyard orchestra with each child performing using recycled materials.  The incursion focused on sustainability and recycling demonstrating how easy it is to used recycled materials to create music. After recess Junkyard Beats worked with our year 6 students creating and installing a musical wall in the undercover area, which has proven to be very popular with everyone.

Prep Wellbeing Week

The Preps have had a great and busy start to the week. We have started our new unit of inquiry, where we are learning all about the properties of materials and how these materials help us design and construct a multitude of things. This week we have been using our sense of touch to explore a range of different materials and textures as well as categorising the different materials. We have also started to explore the different materials around our school and playground as well as creating our own buildings and homes using box construction. We have also been focusing on using the weather to help us understand and identify our feelings. As we were all very excited to come back to school and see our friends, the Preps said they feel happy just like a sunny day. We are looking forward to a busy and fun term ahead.

1/2 Wellbeing Week

In 1/2 we have had a lovely week getting back into the swing of school! Our Inquiry unit is all about the environment and we loved planting our Woolworths seeds and writing and drawing in our new nature journals.

We had a wonderful nature walk around the school and spotted lots of wonderful new additions to our gardens.

We had a ball at the Junkyard Beats incursion, where we learnt all about how to be sustainable with items we use and how we can easily reuse items to create music! It has been a super fun week!

3/4 Wellbeing Week

During Wellbeing Week, the Year 3 /4 classes included meditation in our daily plans. We also further explored our Learner Profile. Each class discussed some different ways we could be principled during the week.  Every day we have followed different meditation cards and we have been really impressed with how we could focus for longer periods of time. We noticed it really helped us to feel calm and settled.

5/6 Wellbeing Week – The Power of Words

As part of our circle time this week the students explored the power of words. As a class, we each wrote one mean word or phrase on the paper and scrunched it up. After everyone had written on the paper we reflected on the state of the paper and the fact that we couldn’t reverse what we had written or physically done to the paper. This showed us the negative impact of what we say or do and allowed us to reflect on how we should treat others.
