Teaching and Learning

Tutor Learning Initiative

This year we have been fortunate enough to appoint 7 qualified teachers to work as Tutors to further support our students in their learning, particularly those students who have suffered from the unprecedented pandemic that started last year. Early in the year, we decided to focus 6 of our tutors to supporting our Later Years students in Numeracy and Literacy at year 10, 11 and 12. As a result we have a year 10 English Tutor, a year 11 English Tutor, a year 12 English Tutor, a year 10 Maths Tutor, a year 11 Maths Tutor, a year 12 Maths Tutor and a year 7/8 Reading Tutor.

Throughout Term One, our Tutors have been working extensively with their assigned year level of students and teachers. They have worked in the classrooms, alongside the teachers to support the learning of small groups of students and individuals. Fundamental to their work has been their efforts in building a strong rapport with students and teachers and developing a level of trust that students now feel has provided them with the confidence that they can go to their Tutors and seek further support and help in their learning.

As of next week, Monday 10th of May, our year 10, 11 and 12 Tutors, will be available for students to book individual (and/or small group) 20 minute sessions afterschool Monday to Thursday from 3.30 to 4.30. This resource is free and readily available to further support all students at their point of need. Students can book a time with one of the Tutors by accessing the Tutor Booking Sheet in their Explore Team. Tutor sessions will be taking place in the Senior Centre and we encourage our Later Years students to take advantage of this wonderful resource.
