Interschool and Community Sports

Last Friday our Football and Netball team headed off to play St. Joan of Arc at their home ground. Keen and ready to play after the week off the following week.

Our Netballers had Mr. Harding step in for the week as Mrs. Burns was away for the game. We had tough competition but Lola Collins was able to create plenty of chances for Jensen Andrich and Caleb Goss who shot well throughout the game. Whilst we don’t take scores, everyone knows the result.

On the other court Ethan Bourbon was running up and down creating space in goals and from his own words ‘shot well’ for the team. Matt Subiru and Tristian Utomo worked tirelessly at the defensive end, stopping all that St. Joan of Arc threw at them. Whilst we don’t take scores, everyone knows the result.

We would like to thank Mr. Harding for his time in supporting and helping us.  ‘It was a wonderful thing to see the students working angles and running patterns on the court’ – Mr. Harding

Our Footballers had a very tough game and started off really well in the first quarter, Jacob Gatt was working in attack and defence which helped us get a great start. Our next 2 quarters, St. Joan of Arc got on top of us around the ground. The last quarter saw Harry Brown step up in the ruck, Ben Joyce had his back line sorted and was directing like a leader and the goals started to happen. Whilst we don’t keep score, every knows the result.

‘The effort of the team today was tremendous, we never gave in, which was all we can ask for’   Mr. Edwards

Tennis

Tennis is a game of life and last week saw a new group of Galilee Year 6 girls hit the courts for an expression session with Paul. The first part of the session saw the children undertake some valuable co-ordination and engagement drills in order to clear their heads and get ready for some fun and games. It was another beautiful day in the park and one that would see the children do a few drills to get them tuned in for a game of “Beat the Champ” and “Royal Rumble”, 2 of Mr Mapley’s favourites.
