Learning and Teaching

Year Two

Year two has had a really busy start to term 2. Some of the things we have got up to include: reading and performing at the Mother’s day liturgy, creating information reports, researching various animals, learning all about time and maps, playing new sports and saying goodbye to Amelie B.

Religion

The students exerted a lot of effort in their preparations for the Mother's Day liturgy, showcasing excellent reading, singing, and dancing skills during the liturgy.

A lot of time and effort was put in and the students and teachers were very proud afterwards. A big thank you to Fr. Gary and Ms. Rochecouste who helped us in our preparation and on the day.

Literacy

Up until this point in the term, the students have been composing informational reports on various animals and engaged in reading non-fiction books with a key focus on enhancing their comprehension skills.

Maths

Throughout this term, the year twos have covered a lot of ground. Our main focus has been on the topics of time, location, addition and subtraction. We utilized various tools and materials to determine the accurate readings on clocks, analyzed maps to locate scattered treasures on the rooftop, and are currently exploring number bonds and employing various strategies for addition and subtraction.

Amelie

Last week, Galilee said farewell to Amelie B, who was a

very popular member of our school. She and her family moved to Brussels on Monday. Amelie has been part of our school community since prep and has made a significant contribution to our school. We extend our best wishes to her family as they start their new adventure in Belgium.

The kids are eagerly anticipating the opportunities that the remainder of the term has in store for them and are excited about all the fun ahead.
