From the Principal

Dear Families,

Thank you for all your kind words and well wishes following the news that Simon was involved in a bike accident on Sunday. He has been in regular communication with us this week and he has been overwhelmed by the supportive, kind response of our community. He is still in hospital recovering. We will keep you updated, as we hear news.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day celebrations at Galilee last Friday were incredible. It was a wonderful opportunity to gather together and highlight the central role that mother's and special women play in our lives and within our community at Galilee. The day started with an early morning Strength and Breathing session in the Stadium. It was wonderful to see a number of Mum's and their children turn up to school with their yoga mats to participate in the session. Mother's Day morning tea followed the Strength and Breathing session, in the Maguire Hall. The hall was brimming with Mothers who enjoyed a cup of coffee and snack before they headed off to our Mother's Day Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul. The Year 2 students and teachers put together a beautiful Mass and a wonderful tribute to our Mother's and special women within the Galilee community. The day ended with an amazing Mother's Day lunch at Greenfields, organised by Jodie, Nat, Carmen and our Galilee Parent's Association. The lunch was a wonderful opportunity for our Mum's to gather together and celebrate being a Mum within the Galilee community.

A Day In May

On Monday it was wonderful to see our playground covered in a sea of yellow and pop stars as we celebrated A Day in May. A Day in May campaign raises funds for Challenge’s Musical Movement Trust. This scholarship provides pre, and primary school aged cancer patients access to a music therapist or group music sessions, funding to attend a music program, or purchase a musical instrument. We thank our community for your generous donations.

Uniform

As the winter weather approaches, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that students are now wearing full winter uniform. I’d like to draw your attention to two areas of the uniform that we have noticed isn’t consistently being followed by some students. Please ensure that students are wearing the correct socks with their winter uniform and that their spray jackets are only worn over the top of their school jumper. We think our students look fabulous wearing the Galilee uniform and love to see them wear it correctly and with pride.

Library

As you would be aware, the library has been closed following flood damage in Term 1. We have engaged a structural engineer who will be assessing the ceiling next week. We are working as hard as we can to get out library back up and running so that students can once again borrow library books. Thank you for your patience while we address this issue.

2024 Enrolments

Our Prep 2024 letters of offer have been sent out. We are pleased to report that we have had lots of interest from local families wishing to attend Galilee and our enrollment numbers are looking healthy for 2024. Our Sprouts program has started this week and it was wonderful to welcome some of our 2024 Preps into our school for our school readiness program with Holly Evans. 2024 Prep Transition sessions and dates will be sent out shortly. We look forward to welcoming all 2024 Preps to Galilee for Transition sessions next term.

We wish you and your family every blessing in the coming weeks,

Amy Burns and Carlo Martello
