Game 1 - Ballarat High

We played Ballarat High, who came out strong, taking an early lead through very straight kicking, putting 4 goals on the board quickly. After a few structural changes and a stronger understanding of how rotations work, Beaufort were able come on in the second half with a more settled line up. Matching Ballarat High in the contest resulted in a more even scorecard in the second half. Some of our better players were Cooper, Lachie Fraser, Harry and Caleb, with Harry kicking two goals and Caleb kicking one.

Final score: Ballarat High 52 to Beaufort 19.

Game 2 – Phoenix

The second game of the day saw Beaufort taking on Phoenix in a tight contest. Both teams played hard but showed great sportsmanship throughout the game. Phoenix gained an early lead which they were able to hold onto for the duration, narrowly holding on to win by 8 points. Beaufort lost players due to injury during the game, meaning fewer opportunities for rotations. Goal scorers were Harry with two goals and Zac and Ben with one goal each. In the Best were: Harry, Caleb, Lachlan, Tristian and Cooper.

Final score: Phoenix 34 to Beaufort 26

Game 3 – Mt Clear

Beaufort saved their best for last, starting strong against a tough Mt Clear outfit. Beaufort kicked three first half goals, dominating the contest from the middle and regularly surging forward. We almost kept Mt Clear goalless in the first half, although they managed to kick a late goal after the siren, staying within range. Mt Clear brought fresh legs to the game in the second half and came back strong with early goals. Beaufort tightened their defence and stopped Mt Clear’s attack, whilst holding onto the lead. Beaufort achieved their first win of the day, holding on by nine points.

Goal scorers were Harry with three, Ben with two and Cooper kicked one. In the Best were: Caleb, Jacob, Cooper, Tom Lyons, Harry and Noah.

Final scores: Beaufort 36 to Mt Clear 27
