Dear John...

Mrs Doyle's Middle Years English students were tasked with writing war letters to loved ones, as part of a recent assignment, 'Who Went to War and Why?'. Students were to put themselves in the shoes of the soldiers and nurses who went to war and script a letter to a loved one or  an important person.

With a need to demonstrate empathy and compassion, all students did an outstanding job, recounting the horrors that our soldiers encountered while away at war and capturing the fighting spirit that took them there in the first place. The task gave students the opportunity to reflect on how difficult life was, not only for the soldiers but also the families they left behind, and to take a look at just how far we have come since those terrible times.
