CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Respectful Relationships we are focusing on mindful breathing.

VOCABULARY

Mindful breathing: is when we focus on our breath, are present and take normal breaths to calm our bodies/de stress/remove our worries from our bodies.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child, discuss what it means to be ‘mindful’. Ask your child to discuss what are some ways they can calm their bodies down when they may be feeling a little worried. Ask them to share which strategy works best for them and why.

As a family practice mindful breathing. Sit in a comfortable spot somewhere in your house, close your eyes and have each family member think about their breath and nothing else for a short amount of time (30 seconds-1 minute). Share as a family how this made you feel, what did you notice, what changed?
