CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Writing this week we are learning about the features of a Procedural Text and how to write one. 

 

We will be looking at the features of a recipe including the Title, Materials/Objects and Steps.


VOCABULARY

Features: The individual parts that make up a text. Example: Title, Materials, Steps.

 

Title: Name of a book, recipe or instructions.

 

Materials/Ingredients: Things you need to make a recipe or to build something. Example: eggs and milk, nails and a hammer.

 

Steps: The order to complete a recipe or to build. Example: Step 1: Crack the eggs


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Discuss with your child what a recipe is. If you have examples of recipes at home show them the examples and talk about the different features of them.

Have a look at the recipe below “Fun Pizza Faces.” Discuss with your child the different features of the below recipe. Your child may wish to write what materials or ingredients they think that they would need for this recipe.
