In Reading this week we are learning to identify the features of a procedural text.
VOCABULARY
Features: The individual parts that make up a text. Example: Title, Materials, Steps.
Title: Name of a book, recipe or instructions.
Materials/Ingredients: Things you need to make a recipe or to build something. Example: eggs and milk, nails and a hammer.
Steps: The order to complete a recipe or to build. Example: Step 1: Crack the eggs
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Look for Procedural Texts in your home such as;
- Recipe Books
- Instructions (building a toy, building a shelf)
With your child look for the features in book of your choice: title, materials, steps. Can you find them all?
