In Reading this week we are learning to identify the features of a procedural text.

VOCABULARY

Features: The individual parts that make up a text. Example: Title, Materials, Steps.

Title: Name of a book, recipe or instructions.

Materials/Ingredients: Things you need to make a recipe or to build something. Example: eggs and milk, nails and a hammer.

Steps: The order to complete a recipe or to build. Example: Step 1: Crack the eggs

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Look for Procedural Texts in your home such as;

  • Recipe Books
  • Instructions (building a toy, building a shelf)

With your child look for the features in book of your choice: title, materials, steps. Can you find them all?
