Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Last term, we were given the amazing opportunity to attend Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play was truly magical and one of a kind. The remarkable acting, extraordinary special effects and thrilling plot brought us back to the enchanting and memorable wizarding world. Thank you to the cast, crew and management at Cursed Child for gifting us an experience we will never forget! And a special thank you to Ms. Mumme and the MGC performing arts team who made this all possible!

The Influence of a ‘Stranger’ – Year 12 Drama Ensemble 2023

This week the year 12 Drama class was delighted to be the first group ever to present an evening performance in our new theatre, utilizing the beautiful new lighting system. The stimulus for this year’s performance was ‘The Influence of a Stranger”?

A community in conflict is temporarily united when a ‘Stranger’ enters. The stranger is initially met with hostility from all. The ‘Stranger’ is able to provide all menders of the community with new ways of approaching their problems by broadening their perspectives. Dramatic tension is heightened, and problems become temporarily worsened before they begin to get any better. The community eventually learns to approach their problems through a change of perspective which has been gained through its positive or negative interaction with a ‘Stranger’.

Sometimes recalling the past shows us things we didn’t see before. What happens when you look back and discover that you were the stranger all along?

“CHAINED TO THE RHYTHM” delves into a dystopian narrative that explores the anxiety around tossing away the pursuit of ‘the dream job’ and the inevitability of compromising and pursuing a mundane profession. The play explores the societal beliefs of a ‘meaningful’ job and how we make decisions on our career path in line with what is considered ‘realistic for our current climate’.

A special shout-out to Isobel, Nicole, Grace and Jess from 10 Event Management who helped host the evening. Thanks for the support to Georgia Culvenor and students who attended the evening also to support the 12 Drama students.
